
Matlama Football Club: Lesotho’s Most Successful Football Giant
Founded on 16 May 1932, Matlama Football Club is one of the oldest and most decorated football clubs in Lesotho. Based in Maseru, the capital city, the club plays its home matches at the Pitso Ground, often drawing thousands of passionate fans. With a rich history and a reputation for entertaining football, Matlama FC is a pillar of the Lesotho Premier League.

Record-Breaking Success
Matlama holds the distinction of being the most successful club in the Lesotho Premier League, having won the championship a record 12 times (including the inaugural title in 1969). They’ve also lifted the Lesotho Cup six times, reinforcing their dominance in domestic football. The club has represented Lesotho on the continental stage, with four appearances in the CAF Champions League preliminary rounds.
Style of Play and Youth Development
Renowned for their attacking and expressive style of play, Matlama FC has built a legacy rooted in talent development. The club’s youth system, which spans from under-12 teams to the senior squad, is known for producing some of the finest talents in the country.
